Twlight Rally Day and Camp
Hi everyone
At the January rally we discussed having a twilight rally in February. We have now confirmed availability of instructors and have decided to have the rally on February 13 (Saturday) evening with an optional sleepover of horses and riders. Gear check will be at 4.30 to ride by 5pm. Riders can ride until 8ish before yarding and feeding their horses and then having dinner (even if you’re not sleeping over).
Maryanne suggested it may be a good opportunity for riders to experience what it may be like when they are at camp as many kids may not have had their ponies and horses in a yard overnight. Maryanne and her husband Phil (Rachel’s parents) are happy to stay the night at the club house and supervise the kids. Riders without parents staying must be over 12 years of age and be capable of caring for the horse in the yard themselves, that is getting water and feed sorted out and making sure the yards are secure etc.
Kids would need to bring along sleeping bags, mattress or stretcher, pillows, pj’s, torch and the usual riding gear for Rally day and extra provisions for the horses, buckets for water and feed, rugs, grooming kit etc Please note that when horses are yarded you need to rug them because they can’t move around to stay warm, and also you need to bring hay to compensate for not grazing.
If anyone was interested we could also include a trail ride the next morning after breakfast.
A small amount would be charged to cover meals.
Please email me to let me know whether you are coming to the rally only, or the rally and sleepover for catering purposes.
Also I will be collecting camp forms and money. Cheques should be made out to the Kambah Pony Club. If you have not received camp forms in a previous email you can get the forms off the Zone 16 website www.zone16.pcansw.org.au . If you have any questions about camp please email the Secretary.
